The wrong way to email someone for career advice — and the right way to do it

Not long ago, I got an email asking for advice. But this email really rubbed me the wrong way. Phrases like “I know you’ve got a lot going on …” or “Sorry to hit you up for advice when you are probably slammed” go a long way. Use phrases like “We met in 2019 at an event in Midtown” or “We both know James.”
