I personally use OneNote, but you can use a similar program or even plain text files. A major part of my processing speed is in keyboard shortcuts in my e-mail program. You should look into keyboard shortcuts too. For each step of my process, I have a keyboard shortcut such as CTRL-1, CTRL-2 , CTRL-3, etc.

I seriously count on my calendar to keep track of what I’m supposed to do, and when, and it’s my first-used tool in just about everything I do. My iPad has an awesome case and keyboard made by Zagg (in red of course to match my business brand!). I always synch all of my files from my main Mac computer in my home office to Dropbox so that I am sure to have all of them handy while on the road by using the app on my phone and tablet. I keep mine in an encrypted Word file on my computer. I also have an encrypted file with various other important numbers like my and my husbands social security numbers and the like. Servers are usually backed up daily, so your file will likely be restored. However, you probably want to password protect file.

At one office I worked in we had a mail cart with slots for everyones mail, but it was filed First name, Last name. the phone book, standard filing practices etc.) This goes for filing and also how your contacts are ordered in Outlook. Tried and True Method: I set up 12 hanging file folders labelled January through to December. I then put the items in a two-fold file folder with his calendar printed out on the one side and the items he will need for the day on the other side. Click CTRL + any arrow button on the keyboard to jump to the edge of the sheet in different directions. To customise the cell edit order when you are typing out a large list of entries just go to Menu > Tools > Options > Edit tab and set the “move selection after enter” to whatever direction you like.

A tip she passed along had to do with the bring-forward system and has been a great tool for me. I use hanging file folders labelled from January through to December. Every afternoon before I leave for the day, I go through the hanging file for that month to see if there is anything I need to bring forward for the next day.

This is useful if you want to file the email and change the Subject line to something that better describes what the email is about or to put notes in the email. You can also attach a file from Word, Excel or PowerPoint or a business card from your Contacts if it is someone you need to remember to call and want that information available.

To search for auto recovered documents on the File menu, click Open , and then click Recent Documents. To view all of the MS Word Commands go to File > Options > Customise Ribbon. To check word count File > Properties > Statistics. Use the keyboard shortcut Fn + Shift + F7.
