Make an appointment - Don’t just hope you find the time to clean up, set a calendar entry and stick to it. Organizer ( paper or electronic) to enter to-dos, addresses or calendar data. Sort – everything into boxes/containers according to what needs to be done: file , shred, recycle , refer, toss, etc.

Our organization uses Google Apps for our e-mail, calendar and cloud solution. By using labels in combination with filters, I am able to automatically sort and label (file) most of my e-mail before it arrives in my in-box. I'll read and delete and save those of interest in a file. Act on the e-mail. so then do it.

I downloaded WLM - installation was straightforward - it imported all my OE contacts, messages and settings (although for some reason it did not import by Sent Messages file and I had to do this via the File Import menu). It also has a build in Calendar. So what is WLM like?

  Rather than having sticky notes all over your desk for things you want to get done, put the tasks on your calendar.    Make sure that as you schedule the activity (appointment on the phone, outside of the office or task you want to get done, etc) with enough time to come to a stopping point.

Get a single notebook and use it to record notes, phone numbers, web addresses, ideas, to-dos, etc. Create a list or binder of regularly referenced material, such as phone numbers, and keep it accessible in a desk drawer. Schedule filing time at least once per week. This is not the same as a tickler file.
