Again, we use an external drive for this (that also gets backed up to the Drobo) for this. Scrivener is getting that nod right now since I’m working on a book, and any application I’m putting through the paces will end up there during the testing phase as well. Here’s what I use: Red: Files that have not been opened in 1 year or more.

Try to anticipate the need so you can have the file or the answer your boss needs, before he or she even knows they need it. A good assistant knows just where to find the document or file needed, or they won’t stop looking till they do. Let your fingers do the walking: Quick keyboard sh. Be one step ahead of your boss.

Along with our multiple work passwords, we have a password for our home computer, and if we sign up for Facebook, Twitter or any other website, we have another password to remember. I hope you keep your address book locked up as that would be a very valuable source of information for someone up to no good. Works so far!

At one office I worked in we had a mail cart with slots for everyones mail, but it was filed First name, Last name. I grew up in a world that used Last Name, First Name (i.e. the phone book, standard filing practices etc.) This goes for filing and also how your contacts are ordered in Outlook. Well here is one of my Grrr!
