For example, I will try to work on task A for 1 hour. Narrow them down to the amount that you can manage (usually 3 - 5), but some people can do more or less. Move all of the other tasks to the next day or time that you can tackle them. Next, add a time frame to each task. Then I will work on Task B for 30 minutes and so on and so forth.

Another thing that I can suggest is to have a meeting with your boss. M ention him that you are here to help in any way you can. Remind him that this is why he hired you.

So you really have to have a really strong head on your shoulders and just understand that you’re there to do a job and you know, don’t fall into the gossip or the watercooler talk or anything like that. It’s best not to gossip or form secret alliances. Work is work, it's not a so ap opera. :) On the first day you should follow their example. They also want to make a quick phone call and if they were to use my phone I can’t grab other lines if they were to ring. Just be a good person and be you.

For example, you start speaking in short hand to other assistants and it doesn’t come across as rude because it’s meant to be efficient and not waste time with small talk.
