Recognition in my role, such as receiving an industry award, or featuring in national media would definitely be noteworthy if those opportunities were to arise, but validation is something I seek only from myself. If you look over to the right, you will see the dictionary definition of repurpose.  When I was a graduate student, I was mildly surprised to learn that a thesis statement could expand into an entire thesis. I have been on some interactive sites where assistants ask questions and get answers and I learn from them as I have some of the same questions. Lunch n learns are also a good way to learn from each other. Administrative newsletters or bulletin boards where you can post tips or suggestions is a good way to learn.

And when you’re not working, you should definitely try switching to slow mode. Try to learn and understand more about their background, and why they react the way they do. I actually recommend that you learn to be comfortable and happy with how you look now, and not feel negative about yourself even if you are overweight.

Use the notebook for everything you want to keep track of: to do lists, grocery lists, client meetings, phone calls, dreams and goals. Pick a half-dozen little items that can be completed in 5 minutes each or less (an email you need to send, a phone call to make, something to look up on the internet.) a 6x9(ish) spiral notebook.

Turn off the phone while working and don’t answer every call. Keep a steady schedule so that friends and families can learn which days you work, and when. Let the answering machine pick up the phone and focus on getting that work out of the way. Newsletters the same. Turn down invitations to go play.
