Some time before I was a happy person, on Fourth of July weekend in 2011, I moved out of my home and first marriage—and then my laptop quit. Because that apparently isn’t enough, late in the year, this magazine came along with another fun game. For my own experiment, I used a fairly basic spreadsheet and phone alerts.
