My first client came via a Facebook share!! I worked for a tech start up back in 2004 after university and had the pleasure of working with a wonderful lady who provided freelance office services (set ups, systems & admin) to the new start up companies within the incubator. Then think about how you would like a potential employer to drag up something you said on Facebook in 2004 and hold you accountable for it. But I've interviewed enough experts and read enough research to know that many people are consumed with "busyness" and aren't really productive. Wearing your overwork like a hair shirt.

Use social networking tools such as Facebook or Twitter to become more connected to hiring managers or key personnel. She also suggests trying to close the distance between an applicant and the decision-makers or gatekeepers as much as possible. Organizations have to be attentive and don’t just let people rule by their gut.
