The Westbury, London

The Polo Bar was full of locals and hotel residence and the Tsukiji Restaurant was very popular too. The Westbury is also home to a Michelin starred restaurant run by Alyn Williams. When I phoned reception to ask they informed me I would have to go to the lounge to buy a hot drink. The restaurant was very busy and the wait for the food was quite a bit longer than you would normally expect. The location is fantastic and close to great shops and restaurants.

Serviced Apartments – pros and cons

Some places do not have a reception or night porter and in these cases if there is a problem you are normally asked to phone a central number located away from the apartment. Generally the apartments do not provide additional facilities such as a gym, restaurant or spa. A few years ago I was working for a company that employed a large number of consultants, all of whom stayed in London during the week while the business footed the bill.

Christchurch – The Experience

Once in Christchurch I made a short phone call to the motel I previously booked, just to confirm and ask for some directions. Sometimes, if you travel in small groups, they may be even cheaper than a bus ticket. To make a long story short, in just a matter of minutes I was checked in, in a small one bedroom unit (their name for a one bedroom apartment), unit that I will have to share with my travel buddy (ironically called the same as me, Dragos ).

Travel. There are advancements in the travel industry every year. I think the biggest change for assistants is the increased use of the mobile phone when travelling. Executives have been able to use their phone to book and board an aircraft but now they can use their phones to pay for hotels, restaurants and cabs. They can even open their hotel room door with their phone. Every January I seem to find myself in a bit of a confused state.
