At Your Side: Mentoring in the Workplace

Laughing all the Way to Work

She said that new assistants are mentored for the first year of their working career. They work initially as an assistant-in-training and report to a senior assistant for mentoring and help with anything that comes up on the job. They are encouraged to bring any requests from their boss and run it by their mentors so they can think through the next steps. Because of this mentoring program they had no problem hiring young assistants right out of college.

Cutting the apron strings: Gaining confidence to venture out on your own

Laughing all the Way to Work

It is sometimes easy to stay in the student role because it is safe and if you have a strong mentor to live in their shadow, but that is not good for your career development. If you are comfortable in an area and want to try to do it on your own, then do so, but initially I would recommend that you check with your mentor, or a co-worker, and go over it with them. Many times the mentor has to also learn to let go and let you fly on your own.

“Who, me, network?” Build Confidence in Your Networking Skill!

Office Dynamics

Recently, I asked someone I’d met that very day how mentoring opportunities and networking had helped her grow in her career. That person suggested an upcoming mentoring event…where I met three established, motivated mentors…one of whom had great expertise AND offered to meet with me individually for one-on-one coaching to “sharpen my saw” in a given area I wanted to improve and strengthen. A guest blog entry by Nancy Fraze. “It’s It’s all in who you know.”

Minute Taking

Laughing all the Way to Work

I bugged everyone I knew that had ever taken minutes and gained confidence by talking to them. Having confidence and knowledge is half the battle. The more prepared you are the more confident you will be and the minute taking process will be secondary, but you do need to know how to take them as well so I hope to give you some good tips on that. The first time my boss asked me to take minutes I gulped and the fear took over.

The Imitation Game: How Copy Trading Can Be Beneficial For Beginner Forex Traders

Dumb Little Man

It is as simple as having a forex mentor in your life- you as a humble student would always prefer to do the same things as the mentor does. The leverage offered by copy trading also allows people to disconnect from copied trades and manage them individually once they feel confident enough, or have picked up on a fresh trend. Losing money can both hamper the confidence of a person, and make them averse to the idea of forex, depriving them of potential gains.
