If you request to attend a Training Day and they say that time away from the office is the main issue, then you need to make the conference seem as undisruptive as possible. You need to reinforce that your work is under control and manage expectations. The best way for me to do this was to do an internal time management course.

The Doubletree was situated in the heart of downtown Memphis; close to plenty of fantastic restaurants, shops and local attractions including the Fedex Forum and Memphis Redbirds stadium. While I was there an event was taking place and it seemed that the hotel was completely in control and fully geared up for conferences and events.

I was a little stressed about the conference, we were running the next day, but even that didn’t impact the quality of the rest. During the week the hotel is very much a conference and event space. Similar to a lot of spa hotels the Nutfield’s Cloister restaurant offers a three course meal (£38 per head) as part of the weekend package rates. I loved sitting underneath the cloisters and I thought the setting for the restaurant was fantastic.

We held our first Assist Travel conference and exhibition on Friday 25th September at the Hilton Bankside and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the day. The hotel itself was not open to guests and you could literally smell the fresh paint in the conference space. As you can imagine I was really excited to get the conference started.

the serve is excellent and there is plenty of amenities to keep you occupied – including a spa, fitness centre, two restaurants, outside patio, Starbucks Coffee and lots of conference and meeting space for those organising events in the city.
