I recently took a three-day productivity retreat—I noticed that I was falling behind on projects, freelance work, and my own writing and that I simply couldn’t catch up. A lot of my writing friends have done this and they have wound up flittering their time away—wasted it on mundane, unimportant tasks. A wall calendar.

Do You Have A Pain In Your Back-up? Everything is backed up on the web automatically. > I take pictures & videos, enabling me to 'capture the moment' > The reminder facility is fab & I also use it as my back-up alarm for those early morning meetings. I use Carbonite. I don't have to schedule anything.

Answering those seven emails you’ve been putting off. Writing out thank you cards you’ve put off. Whatever it is, get it down on a calendar.

If you have a business partner but not an office manager, divide up responsibilities. I know they have fascinating and important information in them, but you don’t have time to read them and keep up with what came in today. Whether you shred or not is up to you. Also shred credit card applications.

Things I had input on my phone wouldn’t show up on my computer and vice versa. Some online task and project management systems are more up to speed on this kind of thing and have apps for your phone to make capturing information easy even when you’re offline. Learning a new system. Talk about wasting time to manage time!!
