The foyer, the salon bar and the restaurants are beautiful. I felt that the food could have been a bit flashier (you do tend to expect that in a five star hotel restaurant) but that would have probably only raised the price and not the quality. The fish cake and the chicken sat on the standard priced menu.

It is a lovely part of Geneva with lots of shops, restaurants and cafes nearby. I did manage to escape work for long enough to pick up some groceries from the local supermarket with the intention of using the wonderfully equipped kitchen for some home cooking. I was staying in a one bedroom apartment and it was gorgeous.

The Polo Bar was full of locals and hotel residence and the Tsukiji Restaurant was very popular too. The Westbury is also home to a Michelin starred restaurant run by Alyn Williams. Considering the hotel is a 5* property I felt this was a little on the stingy side, particularly as the mini bar prices were extortionate.

If you are ever in the area I can’t stress this too strongly: you must head up those stairs to the Florentine because failure to do so would be to miss out on what must be one of the finest Italian restaurants in Chicago. The Doubletree was situated in the heart of downtown Memphis; close to plenty of fantastic restaurants, shops and local attractions including the Fedex Forum and Memphis Redbirds stadium. The complimentary Wi-Fi was faultless, which is always a bonus particularly for business travellers.

Cantine Parisienne, The hotel’s restaurant, offers guests a fusion of modern French and American cuisine. Guests are spoilt for choice as far as dining options are concerned as there are loads of restaurants and cafes nearby. There are 55 hotel rooms ranging in size and price.

On my return, the hotel restaurant and bar were buzzing. If your boss is going to Geneva on business Hotel N’vY is a smart choice – it is in a great location, the restaurant and bar are lovely, it is reasonably priced and it has character. Hotel N’vY is a great base from which to explore the rest of Geneva.

The half person obviously taking up most of the space with a travel cot included in the room. Lots of informal (and informal being the operative word) meetings were taking place in the restaurant while I stayed in the hotel. The restaurant area has a great atmosphere with lots of comfy sofas and chairs. Informal meeting space.

If your organisation uses a corporate travel agent you might be contractually obliged to use their services for overseas travel but not necessarily for hotels in or near your office. The added benefit of having a kitchen can again save organisations a fair amount of money that might otherwise have been spent in restaurants.

Located in downtown Chicago there are loads and loads of cool restaurants and bars nearby. There was a small kitchen with a microwave, fridge and self service mini-bar (which was actually really reasonably priced!) The ACME is a great choice for business travel in Chicago. The ACME has lots of different room options.

The hotel had invited me up to their new roof top terrace – the 5 lounge bar-restaurant – to sample their cocktails and new bar menu. The roof top bar is lovely and as I said the view is great, perhaps because it is new we can excuse the terrible cocktails the price however can not be excused.

If your destination in San Francisco is the Financial District or Union Square, OAK is only 3 or 4 miles further away from where you are going than SFO and with OAK, flight prices tend to be more competitive and the airport parking is cheaper. I wouldn’t recommend eating around Time Square as it tends to either be over priced or a bit rubbish. We ate at an Italian restaurant called Il Violino on Columbus Avenue which was very nice, although we did have a slight run in with the waiter who thought we had not tipped enough, despite it being 20% of the bill! Raging Bull!
