More practically, cancel the deceased employee’s company email and security card, and retrieve their company-issued cell phone and laptop. Payouts for accrued vacation and other time off follow company policy on final pay. For the year the employee died, you file W-2 and 1099-MISC forms.

Make an appointment - Don’t just hope you find the time to clean up, set a calendar entry and stick to it. Organizer ( paper or electronic) to enter to-dos, addresses or calendar data. Sort – everything into boxes/containers according to what needs to be done: file , shred, recycle , refer, toss, etc.

I was online completing a form that required a phone number and I didn’t have the phone number handy, while I was conducting a search on the internet, my friend got a regular phonebook and found the phone number before my page could load to show me the results of my search. Backup electronic files.

I converted a room in our home that acts as an office - desk, file cabinets, computer, adding machine, stapler - the whole 9 yards. A cheap computer desk and some wire filing systems can create the same atmosphere. Keep your personal phone calls and emails to a minimum, just as you would if you worked in an outside office.
