More recently I’ve heard from assistants that have tried a few different apps and bits of tech which have really helped with their minute taking so I thought I would give a few examples of what is out there. Again it is a digital notebook but it also has an automated To-Do organiser which syncs with calendars and address books.

Similarly I have a large A4 desk pad next to my keyboard for any quick notes I need to make, things to remember (like phone numbers for instance), and tasks people give me at my desk. Calendars are not just for appointments. This is still my favourite go to tool for remember everything at work. Do stuff immediately.

Calendar – For quick reference I have a one sheet per day calendar block on my desk. In addition to that as part of our role we are always at one piece of equipment or the other and it is a massive time saver if for example the printer is near our desk. I use the small post-it index flags all the time as well. .

For example, remembering the number sequence of: 6-3-2-4-8-1-7-9 could be remembered easier if the sequence is chunked into: 63-24-81-79. Stay organized. Mnemonic devices boost memory through associations.

There are keyboard shortcuts for creating new tasks and branches, for grouping sets of tasks together (a very handy feature that all Project Managers will be pleased to see). One other feature that I really liked was the ability to be able to integrate the configured deadlines for tasks with Google Calendar.
