Similarly I have a large A4 desk pad next to my keyboard for any quick notes I need to make, things to remember (like phone numbers for instance), and tasks people give me at my desk. Calendars are not just for appointments. I know this goes against everything that ‘email gurus’ tell us but I keep everything.

said that I live and die by my calendar, and that if something isn’t on it, it doesn’t exist in my world. I seriously count on my calendar to keep track of what I’m supposed to do, and when, and it’s my first-used tool in just about everything I do. I calendar (in Outlook) everything during my work day (generally 8a-6p, M-R).

However, when I went to finish what I was doing, I realized that only part of my keyboard was working.   I used my iPhone to access email and my family laptop to do some things on-line.  I have a reminder set on my calendar to double check the warrenty 2 years from now. I Drive to Get it Fixed.or So I Thought.

I had no idea this could be done, but I was thrilled when I got her email, but it just proved to me once again that we are all holding on to things we take for granted that others know about. The tip she sent me was how to edit an email that you have received. Close out of the email and you will be asked to Save the changes.

A few weeks ago I ordered my new MacBook Pro and I wanted a German keyboard, of cause I could not order a German keyboard, you can order a French keyboard? This time a friendly guy in my Apple Store told me I could pay $200/£100 extra and they would change the keyboard in store for me. installed not OS 10.5.

There are keyboard shortcuts for creating new tasks and branches, for grouping sets of tasks together (a very handy feature that all Project Managers will be pleased to see). One other feature that I really liked was the ability to be able to integrate the configured deadlines for tasks with Google Calendar.

My favourite to-do list is a calendar timeline so I can see at a glance where I am at and what I need to do to get there. It is simply using an on-line calendar with space on each day to enter what needs to be done. To generate a calendar in Word 2007, click on the Office Button (in the top left-hand corner). No surprises!

The only thing I noticed was some lag when typing an email. You see, I use my phone heavily for email. I also have many contacts and calendar items. What’s worse is that as the keyboard is getting more use, it’s not as sensitive. The clock and email indicators on the back of the flip are very helpful too.

In other words, I wanted to be able to access my email, calendar, tasks, and notes from anywhere. The Tasks in Google Calendar is measly and doesn’t have the ability to set priorities, recurring tasks, and, most importantly, synch with my phone. Google Apps did everything except Tasks. Problem solved.

My boss likes me to print his weekly calendar on Monday so he can see at a glance what he has for the week so I clip that to the front of the folder. I then print his daily calendar and slip that in the left pocket of the folder and on the right side I put everything he will need for the day. I do this for each day of the week.

Once a date is finalized I put it in my bosss calendar and confirm the meeting with the other participants. Another benefit to writing it down is if your boss asks you to cancel it or to quickly tell you when the meeting is, you can look at the sheet rather than trying to search for it in your calendar.
