The Dymo business card scanner app for the iPhone  is such a product.    You download the app to your iPhone (they also support other smartphones) and when you take a picture of a business card it automatically adds the appropriate information to your contact list.   It's also kinda fun to use.

I was just playing around with the software and stumbled upon this great feature. I remember back in the day when Microsoft Excel 2003 and prior versions didn’t have this feature. Then we upgraded to Microsoft Office 2007 and voila! That’s it! Now you have a larger area to work with.

It even happened to me a few times, where people would create files themselves, then send it around to others to review and make changes, but never save it on the network drive. The reason I use the latter method is because our company policy is that we cant download any software that IT doesnt approve.

Another option is to create templates in Microsoft Office and either e-mail them to everyone or place them on a network drive for everyone to access. This way, everyone will be using the exact same documents , spreadsheet , etc. Just make sure to protect the documents, spreadsheets, etc. so that they dont get changed.

Instead of filing the PDF on the network, the document was printed and placed in a filing cabinet , where it will sit until doomsday or at least until someone cleans out those files. Invest in equipment and software. We were recently involved in a capital project to build a new program facility. We really didn’t need the manual.

One of my managers wanted me to use our sales tracking software to create the sales report for a particular product. They ask you to create subtotals for the latest sales report, but want you to only send them the revised spreadsheet showing the subtotal rows. I recently ran into this problem as well.
