I arrange quite a few events and have realized the importance of reading and reviewing the contracts carefully, highlighting key dates. When I reviewed the invoice I noticed there was a guest on our bill who wasnt in our party so that amount got taken off. Once the invoice arrives you should check to make sure everything is accurate.

I use this all the time on my calendar and my boss's calendar, and it helps us both to know which events are phone calls which he can take in the office or on the road (yellow) or which events will require travel (blue). I put travel in red and action reminders in yellow, but that is our own system and it works for us.

Every time I use a bus ticket, I keep a mental inventory so I know when I need to buy some more and dont show up at the bus stop one morning and Oops! The night before I go to a Board meeting, I review all my templates, agendas, binder, attendance sheets and everything I am going to need or might need. no tickets. Do I have everything?

It even happened to me a few times, where people would create files themselves, then send it around to others to review and make changes, but never save it on the network drive. Check with your boss and if agreed, unsubscribe from any unnecessary e-mails that may be cluttering their Inbox or create subfolders and drag and drop these e-mails there for your boss to check when he or she has the time to review them. Your role may be just to unclutter their Inbox so they can better manage the important items.

If he is travelling, I send it by e-mail, but it has been my experience that I will get better results with a face-to-face meeting. I have daily meetings with my boss so sometimes I print the e-mails that I have questions on and put it in a folder and then we go through each item and he lets me know what, if anything, I need to do.

This company is so ginormous I am having a dizzy time of trying to wrap my brain around what all they do – various forms of power, civil engineering, and then the IT services side of it. Since I had the iPhone with me everywhere, every time I had an idea on how to implement something, I was adding it, assessing it, moved it to decide or do and then review it once I was in front of the laptop. You have to subclass Calendars, Time Zones and Time Components if you want to do some fine grained date comparisons.
