Fax Blasts I remember someone from my IAAP Chapter asked me to fax the notice of our Chapter dinner to a list of about 60 companies to promote it. I dont know about you, but when I get these "flyer" type faxes, they go immediately in the recycle bin. When you suspect a co-worker has a substance abuse. " Warning!

To be a little more productive at my job, I thought Id create e-mail templates, which save quite a bit of time in the long run. On the File menu, click Save As.

Then, you need to assign tasks to each goal, where you break the goal down into manageable chunks. Narrow them down to the amount that you can manage (usually 3 - 5), but some people can do more or less. Move all of the other tasks to the next day or time that you can tackle them. Next, add a time frame to each task.

If they prompt you to get it done right away (if this is not your immediate supervisor), make sure to let your manager know. They are there to help, since they are managing you. If you feel that your manager thinks of you this way, talk to them about it, but in a professional manner. Dont feel that you are not doing your job.

Since I help out a staff of 30, which includes 6 managers, I constantly am away from my desk doing different tasks such as going to the printer on the other side of the office or bringing rush items to the mail room. Then I would create worksheets within each sheet with headings such as: Name Time of Call Reason for Call If you work for more than one manager or you need to track calls for more than one person, you might want to create a heading that states something like "Person Receiving Call" or something along the lines of this.

Thats how I get things done around my office, since I work for about 30 staff, which includes 5 managers. to the president, 3 VPs, and the HR manager. I finally created an e-mail outlining what my responsibilities are and how much time it took me to accomplish them - 4 days a month! My suggestion to this is to be persistent.

Your co-workers are probably all new to you, you dont know how to use the photocopier or fax machine and more importantly "where is the bathroom?" It was a wonderful tool. They have about 9 lawyers, 2 paralegals, 1 receptionist (me), and a office manager. This particular law firm had approximately 150 people in the office.
