It is a great event and gives us a chance to meet with other assistants and like-minded people. The suppliers at the exhibition are tailored for assistants, the seminars are run by some of the most prestigious training companies and as always there are a lot of free goodies! Sure, I worked on projects that contributed to the success of the organisation but I had many skills that were not used because nobody knew I had them and I didn’t proactively promote them. Assistant’s work with suppliers on a regular basis and can easily research and suggest new suppliers which might save the organisation money.

I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one that gets a little bit apprehensive about attending events, especially large exhibitions that are set up like a gauntlet that you have to navigate through while avoiding overzealous sales people pulling you from one badly designed stand to another. So we need to attend events on a regular basis.
