Consider the expenses you incur in these areas: Rent/Mortgage: If you rent or lease an office space, be sure you can easily cover that, and any additional fees that are involved (maintenance, snow removal, etc.) Most VAs work from home offices. Travel and Transportation: Do you do a lot of consulting, or offsite meetings?

Since I work at home (and because we're full-time RVers, always on the road), I need to be able to fax/copy/convert from anywhere. But I live and work in less than 200 square feet -- so I don't have the room for a lot of equipment. I never leave home without it. I travel by car to see many of my clients, in their homes.
