One of the problems with e-mail is that not everything needs to be acted on right away, but if you don’t have a good reminder system in place, then you’re likely to let things slip through the cracks. In a nutshell, it turns *ANY* e-mail client into a reminder system. Stage Two Labs recently launched a new service called Nudgemail.

One other observation: the better you’re maintaining your system day-to-day, the smaller the impact of unexpected absences. Generally, with a planned absence, I have put systems in place to catch, reroute, defer, etc. It may take time and effort to get things reorganized to move forward, but don’t stop at the end of step four.

Add to that the other issues with Bluetooth, how heavy it is, the system’s full crash forcing my to do a full reset, and I was ready to trade in or just go back to my Blackberry. I’m glad to report, the Bluetooth, keyboard lights, nor full system crash issues have haunted me since. I was a bit frustrated. Time will tell.

As I think about the tradeoffs of each type of organization, I realize neither system is necessarily right or wrong. If neither system is necessarily right or wrong, why do so many people complain about one or the other? Results are what matter so long as those results are what were planned. This is purely a personality mismatch.
