Even knowing what someone’s office looks like, how tidy they keep their desk and what pictures fill the walls of their cubicle, can provide a level of comfort. Those subconscious signals evaporate in an online-only collaboration.

Try venting to someone you confide in. Taking a few slow, deep breaths in between can also help. Try removing yourself from the situation by taking a short walk. Exercise can do wonders. Just getting out the tension will release any anxiety and stress you may have.

If you fail to get this right, as I did with my online men’s store, then your customers won’t care about your offerings, and you’ll have to go back to your old cubicle job. But you can’t be confident in your choice until you get out there and test your idea. As an achiever, you probably have great confidence in your abilities.
