This is what we do: My husband monitors travel sites and email subscription services for super-cheap flights or error fares. Sometimes one of us travels for work and the other tags along. With us, travel is always interesting. Of course, the investment in travel goes well beyond money. I am not a flexible person.

To avoid distractions, I… usually put on some music and put my phone on silent. Without the constant notifications from texts, calls and emails, I’m much more productive and creative. The item of clothing I can’t live without is… a black, well-fitting blazer. I never leave home without… my phone. My whole life is in it.

I tried my best to not be tethered to my phone, emails, texting and more. Emails have backed up or even if you were checking email, you still go back through to make sure you didn’t miss anything or you now have to take action on your emails. Some words of advice, if you are traveling soon for vacation.

Luckily, in my office, we dress in casual clothes all of the time and we do have a corporate policy of being able to dress up in a costume for this event. This has been a tradition in our office for quite some time now, where people would decorate the office, dress up in funky costumes and bring baked treats for everyone.

I didn’t have a blackberry… actually I didn’t have a mobile phone that accepted emails or had the internet so it wasn’t easy to stay connected. This meant starting up my home computer from 1997, connecting it to my dial-up internet and attempting to log onto the torturously slow remote email system.
