The goal is to get in touch with whatever is making our current situation feel too constricting or just plain wrong. For example, starting a nonprofit may not be the best choice for someone with no business experience.

I also have found that it pays to be more realistic when setting goals for myself. For example, maybe you decide that you want to begin the new year by being more organized. Who’s got time to get organized? Don’t make such sweeping plans that you would have to clone yourself a dozen times in order to accomplish a goal.
