I held a training seminar and Committee meeting on the day that the second planned terrorist attack occurred in London in 2007. Fortunately the police managed to stop the would be terrorists but it did lead to chaos on the transport network. Assistants will no longer have to get their manager’s permission to travel to London or other major cities for networking opportunities which can be a major hurdle. In 2013 we saw a massive rise in the number of conferences, events, exhibitions and seminars for assistants and this will increase even more so in 2014.

At a recent meeting some assistants were complaining about all the e-mail in their Inbox and how frustrated they were getting trying to manage it all. I also learned at a "Working Smarter with Microsoft Outlook" seminar that we should not use e-mails as urgent requests. I am sure we all have the same complaints. " Warning!

Who said it was smart to give a one-hour free seminar, speech or workshop almost every single day? You can manage your own stock portfolio or develop a high interest savings account, etc. I’m glad my blogging fame doesn’t interrupt my trip to the zoo with the kids or a candlelit dinner at a fine restaurant.
