Then, you need to assign tasks to each goal, where you break the goal down into manageable chunks. Narrow them down to the amount that you can manage (usually 3 - 5), but some people can do more or less. Move all of the other tasks to the next day or time that you can tackle them. Next, add a time frame to each task.

If they prompt you to get it done right away (if this is not your immediate supervisor), make sure to let your manager know. They are there to help, since they are managing you. If you feel that your manager thinks of you this way, talk to them about it, but in a professional manner. Dont feel that you are not doing your job.

Since I help out a staff of 30, which includes 6 managers, I constantly am away from my desk doing different tasks such as going to the printer on the other side of the office or bringing rush items to the mail room. Then I would create worksheets within each sheet with headings such as: Name Time of Call Reason for Call If you work for more than one manager or you need to track calls for more than one person, you might want to create a heading that states something like "Person Receiving Call" or something along the lines of this. Recently, I started volunteering through my workplace, since they allow us to have a certain amount of time during work hours. I started with helping at a drop-in centre at a Salvation Army location, where other colleagues and one of my managers would serve lunch to people that were down on their luck.

I would be able to do work without too many interruptions , have quiet time, since the walls and the closed door (at times) would stop the noise from reaching in. I work in a large firm now where it’s mainly an open concept area, with only the managers having their own offices.

Thats how I get things done around my office, since I work for about 30 staff, which includes 5 managers. to the president, 3 VPs, and the HR manager. I finally created an e-mail outlining what my responsibilities are and how much time it took me to accomplish them - 4 days a month! My suggestion to this is to be persistent.

Thank goodness I get three tries to pick the right one before the system locks me out. The first time it doesnt work, I assume I entered it wrong so try again. Of course even if the system hadnt crashed, I would have needed to know my server and Outlook password so I could get into my sub-folder with all my passwords?
