Lately I've been poking around online trying to see what else is out there for self-branding and job hunting. I enjoy doing this and it helps when I volunteer or make suggestions to those I'm mentoring or friends who ask me questions. It has paid off where I got a phone call or an interview.

This is my first admin job supporting a mid-level executive. I love working in admin, but I have been stuck in this dead end job for more than a few years now without a raise. I also haven’t been growing or learning anything new since Day 1 because my boss won’t give me projects. Happy job hunting and keep me posted!

Roberta, Hopefully, everyone -- no matter the age -- will learn important lessons such as being more resourceful, networking and being resilient. Hochwarter over the phone. We can learn so much from history, but as soon as things start to do well again, we seem to forget everything we learned. Keep up the good work!

I've worked for him for 2 years, and recently I learned his boss is being replaced. This person is not bringing their assistant, and I've learned they will get the assistant to her predecessor. Always look for ways to expand your horizons and be able to show an employer how you faced a challenge and learned. Find a mentor. Ask someone you respect and feel you really connect with for feedback on what you’re doing with your career or in your job. Pick up the phone. Embrace social media. Take the high road.

I do know that the more experienced an EA is the PERCEPTION is they are less hungry, less flexible, less tech savvy, or less open to learning than new EAs who are trying to get their foot in the door, prove their worth, and are new to the EA role. What did they learn? However, this is what I’ve learned. How will they improve?
