Just as accountants get their CPAs to demonstrate they have completed thorough study in their profession/industry, so should an administrative professional have a designation that shows he or she has put in their hard work to grow in their profession. The most important thing is to take action and do something different so you can get promoted, get better tasks, that raise, or transition to a different role, dept, company, or industry. Even asking to intern, shadow, or be mentored by someone well respected is a great first step. Almost every job has an admin element to it.

I did very well on my interviews and it's down to me and one other EA who already has a full time job. The staffing agent asked if I was open to temp to perm, even though the position was for a full time EA, he feels the CEO may need time to see if it is a good fit. It feels like a bait and switch and there are no guarantees.

When I was a teenager, I was already working part time jobs on-air or had clients who were 30-50 years older with very advanced degrees.

Tell us your story on how you went from temping in LA to being the EA of high-profile CEOs. I found every single one of my jobs through a temping agency or by referral. I learned through informational interviews that I should apply to temp agencies. So I left that temp gig and went to work for the CEO.
