When the printer/scanner/fax breaks down I am ultimately the person who troubleshoots and fixes the machine in question. Social Media Savvy – the best Assistants are all comfortable with Social Media Platforms. One consistent ad hoc duty for me throughout my career has been ‘maintenance woman’.

So, when I received the gift of a planner that had big boxes for each day, I simply jotted down my total minutes spent moving or doing something active in the corresponding box on each date. Why bother when we have email, social media, text and so forth? At first, I started with a 5. Is this 1998? Need proof?

One thing I have found that goes a long way are personal handwritten thank you notes and Starbucks gift cards. I sent her a personal note and a gift card to say thank you. Look into purchasing an all-in-one fax, printer, and copier. I completely forgot to book his room - I know, total F-up. She totally saved my skin.

Show your appreciation for each team members’ efforts by taking them to lunch or at the end of the project give a gift of thanks or a certificate of appreciation.
