I also handle his executive calendar and work in the office with him. For me, and this may or may not be the case with you, I learned I was bored, unhappy, stretched too thin, and I was neglecting myself. How did I learn this? I mentored other younger assistants. I learned I need a vacation ASAP.

I've worked for him for 2 years, and recently I learned his boss is being replaced. This person is not bringing their assistant, and I've learned they will get the assistant to her predecessor. Her skill set it basically calendar and coffee. Her skill set it basically calendar and coffee. This is a bad idea!

If I had more work to do and would be learning along the way, I would stay. Right now I just put things on his calendar and order food. I knew I didn’t want to job hunt for more than 6-9 months if I didn’t have to. And as I was working, job hunting and/or temping, I had to find other sources of happiness.
