Mentor Newbies. Mentoring shows you are team-oriented and not afraid of helping other people shine. Chrissy also has an amazing book called The Proactive Professional and some incredible ebooks and guides. You have to bring those things to light. Don’t hide in the shadows and hope that someone notices all you do.

If inexperience is holding you back, approach someone whose work you admire and ask him/her to mentor you. Mentor someone else, and you’ll find it’s also good for you. Turn to peer networks, blogs and books to support your turnaround. It’s Become Routine; I Could Do this in My Sleep. Feeling underutilized? Take the initiative.

In prepping my new book, I have also been talking with leaders, recruiters, and HR professionals. Read books like “Caste” and watch films like “I Am Not Your Negro.”. In fact, the most effective assertiveness happens calmly, factually, and directly. I wish that you find a mentor. You matter. Do your homework.

The general public boldly asserts: “ anyone can be an assistant.” She recommended obtaining career-specific training, rather than generic, general, non-desk specific training. “We We need to bring training and development into the profession about the profession ,” she said. Encourage cross-mentoring.
