In it's annual Mom survey, it has been determined that "the time mothers spend performing the 10 most popular 'Mom Job' functions would equate to an annual salary of $116, 805 for a Stay-at-Home Mom and $68,405 for a Working Mom." Get a mentor. Let me repeat: I'm not getting paid what I'm worth. Find out what everyone else is making.

Working for a temp agency can either land you a full-time job or help to keep you employed while you are looking. You will be challenged to learn new software skills or hone the ones you have.

Do you have any gaps in your own skills (like business development for example)? My understanding is that most people who dare to venture out as entrepreneurs have a basic level of most skills required for the various roles in a start-up. start-up cannot afford higher salaries. Good communication skills (spoken & Written).

I have heard of EAs working for successful international corporations and earning a very large salary. If you’ve decided you want to be an EA or have a career that leads to a great salary, it all starts with growth. Even asking to intern, shadow, or be mentored by someone well respected is a great first step.

Yes, I have taken job-specific software classes, classes to learn organizational and people skills, and took computer certification classes which I was not aware I needed coming right out of high school. Again, these are skills I was able to cultivate on the job. Only the usual Microsoft skills. Not particularly.

Rothberg says he believes part of the problem is that in this tough economy, some employers are “hiring down,” meaning they are bringing inexperienced people on board – for less money – to perform jobs normally reserved for more skilled employees.
