Of course, you have to present yourself well, answer the interview questions properly, have the skills and knowledge of the position you are applying for and a few other factors that help you get the job. We both had similar skills, education, etc. The hiring manager told me that he was debating between hiring me and another person.

I could help them and they could help me, but I also found it to be good networking. Like you, I list the new assistant as not only a contact but a definite resource for future references. I had always made a point of getting to know the various assistants I worked with as I found it to be useful for both of us. 5, 2010 at 12 p.m.

Coming from a legal background, we were always taught if you are using an acronym or initialism in writing, on the first use you should spell it out and then put the acronym in brackets, which makes a lot of sense and saves a lot of head scratching and searching the document to figure out what the person is referring to. 5, 2010 at 12 p.m.

I dont mind being referred to as someones assistant. My current boss always refers to me as his colleague, both to those within our company and to external contacts when referring them to me. I tend to use the term boss when I refer to my employer. My all-time favourite however is colleague. 5, 2010 at 12 p.m.
