I’m always amazed when I meet someone in the workplace and I ask them what their goals are for the next year or I talk to them about expanding their skill sets and they say to me, “I plan to coast until I retire. I think to myself, “How are you so sure everything is going to stay the same until you retire three or four years from now?”

Most are very reasonably priced (under $30) and they’re often centered around a fun event like happy hour at a local pub. If you’re a young professional, you don’t necessarily want to spend your time volunteering with retired folks. My fellow mentors are all amazing people who share my values and have similar personal goals.

And due to outsourcing, Boomers not retiring, and Gen Yers being told (by older generations mind you) to get degrees in their "passion" or that "any degree" is a path to success.you end up with a lot of overworked, underpaid 20somethings.
