There are also sites for networking to keep your name out there. A good way to network in person is through professional associations. Being a member is not only a great place for networking, but for mentoring and learning of jobs in your area. Employers are hiring young and training them on the job.

No doubt Aqua B are on the way to pushing up their compliance officer''s income to the suggested £75000 a year salary boasted on their web site. Surely not possible John is a trained Aqua B expert. I asked John Butterworth if he was a trained surveyor or something and he said. " Sounds very strange doesn''t it.

I use a place based in Toronto called Last Minute Training. I have asked for a raise however, but it was after I considered a move somewhere else and wasnt sure I wanted to go, so gave my employer a chance to match the new salary and they did. How you network, how you brand and sell yourself, and how amazing you are as an assistant all play a factor. Or they will say they want people to be in the training program or how previous assistants have gotten promoted after a couple of years if they were the right fit. However, that 15% was also about 10% work-related to a degree.

Legally, and with lower risk, it could profitably be run with employees. Bit O’Moxie : Look…if you’re going to set up a multi-VA firm, do it legally and minimize your risk. and do it legally. I have also coached other VAs to (legally) create a successful 6-figure VA business. I also run a multi-VA firm and do it legally.

For employees, it may be that they never again let their networks lag and their skills become outdated. Personal branding and networking are the two things that many of us have learned are necessary moving forward whether we work in a corporate environment or are self employed.
