I have been involved in conducting a few interviews for admin jobs and here are two of the main things I have noticed about those who are unsuccessful: resumes are out of date and not relevant to the job applied for and the person was not prepared for the interview. 3) Find someone to mentor you. Make it count.

There are sites that are specifically for job hunters where you can submit your resume and a profile about yourself for any employer to see. First impressions count.

What I have learned as a blogger Blogging about your career is an excellent way to present yourself to a potential employer. I would recommend putting your blogspot on your resume under "Accomplishments" with a brief description of what your blog is about. Over 250 articles later and here I am still blogging.

Perhaps you will be able to put together documents, presentations, grants, and portfolios using Excel, Powerpoint, Word and any other databases or programs you have taken classes for.

If a more experienced assistant comes alongside you and provides mentoring - dont refuse it. She said it wouldnt look good on my resume if I was seen as a job hopper.
