Do you keep reminding yourself to do things that you think you “should do” but don’t really need or want to do – like arranging your vacation photos into a photo album, alphabetizing your bookshelf, sending out holiday cards? At some point in the process, you might hit the “overwhelm wall.” Do yourself a favour – delete them.

Emotional blocks – boredom, daydreaming, stress, guilt, anger and frustration reduce concentration. Good time management processes let you concentrate on one thing at a time. When you enjoy what you are doing, it reduces stress. When stress is reduced, you work more efficiently. Don’t multi-task.

I was stressed out from the pace of work and also the length of a couple of special projects with a long lead time. We also got 2 floating/personal holidays, about 3-10 sick days, and also working in the entertainment industry, most places shut down for the last 10-14 days of the year. Most of my jobs I was able to take my 2 weeks.

First of all, I have to stress that my description will differ from that of any other virtual assistant you might ask. My policies are spelled out in my contract, which clients must read and sign off on before we begin working together. It was quite obvious we weren’t a fit, my screening process worked, and very little time was wasted.

Even with an in-basket, you need to process your mail daily to avoid accumulating a stack of paper. Personally I prefer askSam and (either way) it takes time and effort to implement but for every hour I put into it, it probably saves me four (and reduces stress). Get rid of sticky notes and scraps of paper. Just a suggestion.
