People who spend excessive amounts of time alone tend to suffer from anxiety, stress, and even memory loss. Don’t underestimate the effect of socialization on your psyche, and the subsequent effect of your attitude and mental state on your writing. I do think that conversations via social media count.

Limit your social media activity and try not to be omnipresent all the time. Being overly busy creates a false sense of energy, but it really just adds extra stress. Cut out anything that isn’t critical to your business survival for two full weeks – blog commenting, RSS reading, social media, IM chats and emailing friends.

It’s not a bad idea to keep an eye on what the success stories are up to today, but if you’re really looking to learn something useful (and reduce your stress levels), then you need to go back in time. It might just be that the person you think is making it is just very good at playing the social media game, but not at making any money.

I let go of lots of stress and very little money – we didn’t even work together enough for it to bring in much money to my business. Use social media. Great points all!
