During my time there I took the first PA qualification in Guernsey, my HR qualification and also qualified as a Legal PA. Find yourself a mentor that you look up to. I can keep up to date with the Guernsey PA Connect website and emails, my personal and work emails, along with always being able to call anyone if I need to.

Previous to this I worked in such roles as Secretary to a group of Consultants, Marketing Assistant for an Architect firm, Facilities Coordinator for a construction company and Purchase Ledger for NHS Legal department just to name a few. Do you have advisor’s / board members / mentors that have helped with the network?

It used to be the secretary did everything for the boss, now the executives do a lot of their own administrative work, such as email management, so a background as an admin assistant can certainly help. If a more experienced assistant comes alongside you and provides mentoring - dont refuse it.

I would like to email her after they meet to let her know I am interested in the role. To email her expressing my interest and why I would be great in the role? However, realize you may only get a portion of the truth because if someone is terrible, they are not allowed to say they were terrible for legal reasons, etc.

Eventually, she traveled to visit those who wrote to her.
