U.S. Experiences Fastest Decrease in Worker Productivity Since WWII

What’s going on: EY-Parthenon – a management consulting firm – analyzed Bureau of Labor Statistics data and uncovered that employee productivity dropped in the first quarter of 2023. When compared to last year, employee productivity dropped 2.7%. It was a 0.9% decrease over the previous year, according to Fortune. The data shows that the U.S. has experienced five consecutive quarters of year-over-year declines in productivity – for the first time since 1948.
