My mind is already planning the next Board meeting and how I will organize my desk and the filing at the new place. Meetings - Are you in the middle of planning a meeting? I keep a meeting scheduling form at my desk. I know exactly where I am at with the meeting planning just by looking at the form.

A manager has to have confidence that you know how to do your job. I just did not have confidence that this person was going to be able to assist me. I always have more confidence something will get done when I see it being written down. Show your boss that you want to contribute to their success and to the organization.

One person can be great at software programs and know all sorts of tricks to get things done quickly and another might be excellent at organizing and managing their email account. If you are part of an administrative team you can use your meetings to share knowledge with each other or give tips on something new you have discovered.

It also eases your bosss mind when they see you write it down, it gives them confidence it will be taken care of. If the letterhead has the name of the organization on it you do not have to repeat it again under the name and title, unless that is your boss’s preference. As you have discovered half the battle is getting organized.

Buying a new outfit or wearing a freshly dry-cleaned suit will go a long way to increasing your confidence level. Is everything organized and in the proper place so when you need it you can just grab it? What about your work space? Is it neat and tidy?
