The staffing agent asked if I was open to temp to perm, even though the position was for a full time EA, he feels the CEO may need time to see if it is a good fit. I have no idea how long "temp" is considered before they would offer the permanent position. It feels like a bait and switch and there are no guarantees.

A certification can certainly help you get promoted to an executive assistant position or be considered for an executive assistant position. Private colleges may seem expensive but they offer many scholarships to help offset this cost. It also promotes yourself for your next position. (BM). Some colleges offer scholarships.
