I had no idea this could be done, but I was thrilled when I got her email, but it just proved to me once again that we are all holding on to things we take for granted that others know about. The tip she sent me was how to edit an email that you have received. Close out of the email and you will be asked to Save the changes.

Whenever you need her, assure her you have no problem waiting for her to finish typing that email, texting that person, or whatever it is she is doing. Some executives love talking/the phone, other love emails/writing, and others love texts, etc. Have all the accompanying emails or paperwork too. 1) Get her attention first.

My favourite to-do list is a calendar timeline so I can see at a glance where I am at and what I need to do to get there. It is simply using an on-line calendar with space on each day to enter what needs to be done. To generate a calendar in Word 2007, click on the Office Button (in the top left-hand corner). No surprises!

It works well when it is a co-worker who sits closest to you, but depending on how your office is set up that might not be possible. She had to set up an away voicemail message and fortunately had kept a script of what her away message usually said, She worked for a doctor so it was important that the proper referral numbers were given.

If it is a big project I use a calendar and write down all my required to-dos on the dates I need to get them done to make my deadline. If I am told that I should have it in the next few weeks, or can expect to receive it in a couple of months, that doesn’t really help me with my follow up as it is not a definite date.

Another bring-forward and organizing tip my friend shared with me (that she picked up from another assistant along the way) is using two-fold folders, with inside pockets. My boss likes me to print his weekly calendar on Monday so he can see at a glance what he has for the week so I clip that to the front of the folder.

Once a date is finalized I put it in my bosss calendar and confirm the meeting with the other participants. Another benefit to writing it down is if your boss asks you to cancel it or to quickly tell you when the meeting is, you can look at the sheet rather than trying to search for it in your calendar. Another time I was trying to find a full-serve gas station to fill up, but there was nothing to be found. It was expensive,but when I brought it home I had to do all the work to get it up and running. He loved it and I believe ended up doing his job better because of it. I remember when self-serve gas stations first started.

He takes about 12 steps, squats and rejoices in his accomplishment, then he gets up and walks another 12 steps and squats again to repeat the process. Come up with a plan on how you are going to improve in the areas you identified as needing improvement. He turned 1 year old on October 8th and shortly after that he just took off.

Try to set up the communication of the office so your boss checks their own emails and responds, but you are in charge of all the mtg coordination, phones, and anything that happens in the office. Tech glitches happen all the time and 2 people controlling one person's calendar is not the easiest thing.

I can hardly keep up with my own e-mails at times let alone someone elses account, but that is part of my job. If there are any deadlines or appointments, put them in your boss’s calendar or task list with appropriate reminders. Does it raise a question for you to follow up with your boss? Some emails are obviously junk.

I take the bus to work and I often see people getting on a busy bus and then going through their backpack or purse looking for their bus tickets and holding up the line. I like to be prepared and I find life just works better for me at home, work and even on the bus, when I am organized and ready for whatever is coming up. no tickets.

There are just too many passwords to remember, and that doesnt include my bosss passwords that I also need to know because I have to check his emails as well as my own. Some sites use your email address as the log in, while others require you to create your own. Servers are usually backed up daily, so your file will likely be restored.
