When I receive an initial request for a meeting, I use a meeting form and write down the information I need: who is requesting the meeting, what is the purpose of the meeting, where it will be held and a phone number or an e-mail address and dates that are available. I finally had a chance to sit down and read your book over the holiday.

They had booked the space for November 8th. I knew we were going to go back to that city the next year so negotiated with the hotel that if I booked the next event at their venue would they waive the cancellation fee. If you are not sure of the number of people who will be booking, then give them a rough estimate.

If there are forms that need to filled in and it has a due date in June, I put those forms in the June folder with a bf date on it for a week before it is due. Put it in a folder for your boss’s signature in completed form, i.e. envelope clipped to letter and attachments. After all solicitors, medical doctors etc all have to be formally qualified and people assume the same of accountants.
