I have been on some interactive sites where assistants ask questions and get answers and I learn from them as I have some of the same questions. Lunch n learns are also a good way to learn from each other. Administrative newsletters or bulletin boards where you can post tips or suggestions is a good way to learn.

If you don’t have e-mail folders, create some and sort messages as they are received. It gives you something to look at when you arrive the next morning and lets you know how to get busy right away. Be sure to include call-back windows if you leave a message so you won’t be interrupted while working on an important task.

Where I used to work we had a Mailroom and I would plunk what I needed in a tray with a form to tell them how I wanted it to turn out and return to get it when it was finished. My boss and I share an office space. When he is in the office it is good, at least I have company.
