A manager has to have confidence that you know how to do your job. So how did I handle it the second time around? I just did not have confidence that this person was going to be able to assist me. I always feel more confident when a new hire asks me a question and gets all the information before proceeding. Your new employer is not expecting you to know everything right away and it is in everyones best interest that you proceed cautiously at first until you know the ropes. I dont see it as a weakness, but as a strength.

I read an interesting article on what management can do to prevent lay offs. Be selective and go for the job that is the right fit and that you have confidence you can do. If you do have to leave, dont forget to ask for a reference letter. My former boss gave me an excellent reference on paper and by phone.
