This is what we do: My husband monitors travel sites and email subscription services for super-cheap flights or error fares. Sometimes one of us travels for work and the other tags along. With us, travel is always interesting. Of course, the investment in travel goes well beyond money. I am not a flexible person.

Before officially shoving off in 2018, Ellison and Darsy led what some might call typical lives. He stumbled on a story about Matt and Jessica Johnson, an American couple who sold everything to buy a sailboat and travel the world with their cat. The story lit a spark for the couple, though they had no experience sailing.

Virtual events also saw a rise in popularity, as they allowed audiences to attend without paying for travel or worrying about exposure to COVID-19. Zoom, Google Meet, Discord and other chat services allowed families and friends to communicate across long and prolonged distances and for school and work to continue.
