I decided to go for a run around the nearby Hyde Park and on my way out they asked if I would like a map or needed any help – unfortunately they wouldn’t do the run for me. The Polo Bar was full of locals and hotel residence and the Tsukiji Restaurant was very popular too. Staff at The Westbury were exceptionally helpful.

Located on Grafton Street with all its shops and restaurants and just opposite St. We were able to pick pretty much anywhere we wanted for dinner and had a lovely stroll to and from the restaurant. As a late riser I usually check to see what time breakfast finishes so it was unusual for me to be one of the first in the restaurant.

A few years I organised afternoon tea at T hreadneedles Hotel for my department’s Christmas party. We sat in the lobby area of the hotel, which might not sound very ground but you haven’t seen the Threadneedles Hotel lobby! Advertised minimum rate per night is £180 (September 2014). It is stunning.

I wasn’t disappointed. The Doubletree was situated in the heart of downtown Memphis; close to plenty of fantastic restaurants, shops and local attractions including the Fedex Forum and Memphis Redbirds stadium. The complimentary Wi-Fi was faultless, which is always a bonus particularly for business travellers.

I genuinely think 2014 was a turning point in our industry and I think 2015 will see a consolidation of our efforts to take our profession forward. Within 5 second of being in the hotel I knew the service was going to be good and I wasn’t disappointed. So I made my way down to the TwoTwentyTwo restaurant and bar. I would definitely recommend TwoTwentyTwo for anyone travelling to and from Marylebone station or in the area on business.

It was evening by the time I arrived into Toronto and as it was also Valentine’s Day the city’s bars and restaurants were packed with couples and singles alike. There are loads of options for bars and restaurants near to the hotel – guests really are spoiled for choice. On my way to Toronto I stopped at Niagara Falls.

My visit to Nutfield Priory Hotel and Spa couldn’t have been more welcome. I had just spent 2 months travelling around a freezing USA and although back in the UK my body was still a little cold, a little jet lagged and in serious need of some rest and relaxation. Advertised minimum rate is £189 per room (June 2014).

There are also a variety of cafes, restaurant and shops dotted throughout the lobby. Most don’t have a basketball court, running track, racquet ball court and full sized gym. Advertised minimum rate is $229 per person (March 2014). The atrium lobby is beautifully designed with Asian inspired decor.

I didn’t really believe in love at first sight until I set my eyes on this absolutely stunning building in the heart of Charleston, South Carolina. As he showed me the amenities I’m glad he didn’t turn to look at me because I did have quite an astonished expression on my face.

I must say this little list doesn’t quite give you an idea of the room’s luxury. If it wasn’t for the fact I had not been to Washington DC before and therefore had to do some sightseeing I would have stayed in the bed, possibly forever. Advertised minimum rate per night $319 (January 2014). .

After a few hours of mindless TV and napping (what can I say the duvet was just too inviting to ignore) I decided I wasn’t being very Parisian so I made my way to the bathroom where I took thorough advantage of the marble bath and a large glass of vin rouge. The little touches didn’t end there. That is what I call service!

From my early obsession with Sam from Cheers to my absolute love of Ally McBeal, Boston has been at the top of my travel to do list for a long long time. With so much stuff in the room there wasn’t much space to walk around! For a business traveller the room was more than adequate with everything they might need.

You would think a place this hip would be a little intimidating but it isn’t at all. The hotel doesn’t compromise comfort for cool, which is important. Located in downtown Chicago there are loads and loads of cool restaurants and bars nearby. The great food and drink doesn’t stop with The Berkshire Room.

During my time in Geneva it certainly hadn’t escaped my notice that Geneva is an expensive city: you can’t really escape it (unless you spend all of your time hanging around the central train station). You can’t really go wrong with a mojito, it was fine although a little watery.

Luckily I was staying at The Talbott, a hotel that didn’t mind checking me in at 8am. During the 10 minutes I had to wait for my room I was able to rest my travel weary body on one of the comfortable sofas next to the open fire in the lobby area. My initial assessment of the place wasn’t far off - the suite was fantastic.
