Like snowflakes, each customer’s needs are different and we have to be open and aware by using our active listening skills to learn about their unique circumstance. If we don’t, that individual customer, like freshly fallen snow, might turn ugly before our eyes. My backyard is buried in the white stuff.

Customers came in to ask of her progress. When I learned of the diagnosis I went straight from the store to the hospital to give her a hug. I was surprised and overwhelmed by my feelings but that is the kind of relationship she fostered with her customers. We didn’t grow up together.
